  Mr.ZOU Ji , CEO &President, Energy Foundation China

  Mr. Zou Ji is the CEO and President of the Energy Foundation China, responsible for the overall work in China.

  Mr. Zou has been engaged in the fields of economic development, energy, environment and climate change strategy and policy comprehensive decision-making for many years, and enjoys a high reputation and influence in the industry. He used to be the Deputy Director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy Research and International Cooperation of the National Development and Reform Commission, mainly responsible for China’s low-carbon development strategy and policy research, and international negotiations and cooperation on climate change, during which he has accumulated rich experience in international, national and local work. From 2000 to 2009 and 2012 to 2015, he participated in the UN climate negotiations representing the Chinese government delegation, especially in the negotiations of the Paris Agreement, and made active contributions to China’s participation in the global governance of climate change. From 2013 to 2014, he represented China as a member of the United Nations Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Finance. From 2003 to 2014, as the main author or main coordinating author, he contributed to the writing of relevant assessment reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has also been actively promoting the exchanges between China and the international policy research community and academia, and as a core expert, he helped organizing the strategic and policy dialogues between Chinese and foreign governments and private think tanks.

  Zou has successively served as the Deputy Dean, professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Environment of Renmin University of China, and a distinguished Professor of the School of Economics and Management of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), during which he has devoted to talent training and academic research in the fields of environment, energy and development.

  From 2009 to 2012, Zou served as the first chief representative of the World Resources Institute in China, leading the organization to carry out pioneering work in the fields of climate change, clean energy, sustainable and livable cities.

  Zou has a multi-disciplinary education background. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering and a Master’s degree in technical economics from Tsinghua University, and a Doctor’s degree in environmental and resource economics from Renmin University of China. As a visiting scholar to Harvard University and the London School of Economics, he fulfilled the task of academic cooperation.
