Ms. Laura Walin, Head of Environmental Protection Unit, City of Helsinki Environmental Services
Laura Walin leads the Environmental Protection Unit in the City of Helsinki. The Unit is responsible for coordination and development of environmental management, biodiversity management and nature conservation, environmental impact assessment, air quality and noise abatement actions, and environmental awareness raising in the city.
Prior joining the city’s organisation Ms. Walin worked over a decade in the European Chemicals Agency in various progamme management, coordination and management support tasks. She has also worked in science communication and academia. Ms. Walin holds academic degrees in biology, law and comparative literature from the University of Helsinki.
