Mr. Guido Lanzani, Head of Air Quality Unit, Arpa Lombardia, Italy
Graduate in Physics, Post Doc in Health Statistics, Executive Master in Public Management. He has been the head of Air Quality Unit of ARPA Lombardia, the Regional Environmental Agency of Lombardia Region, since 2001 to now.
He directs the activities of ARPA Lombardia concerning monitoring, emission inventory and modelling on air quality in Lombardia. In particular, he is the supervisor of the air quality monitoring activities in Lombardy region (air quality network, of more than 85 stations, air quality mobile laboratories; 3 supersites; other measurements, such as diffusion tubes...). He coordinates the design of air quality network; quality assurance programs; technical specifications for purchase of instruments. He is the supervisor of Lombardia Region Emission Inventory and of the Air Quality Modelling Team, which is in charge of near real time forecasting evaluations and of scenario analysis.
He directs ARPA’s activities in developing laws and standards about air quality, on the base of technical and scientific evidence, and expert and stakeholders consultations, NGO included, too.
He coordinates the Environmental Protection Agency activities of information to public and to Authorities about air quality, sustainable development and climate change, including the preparation of annual and monthly reports, press releases about these subjects. He is the supervisor of the air quality section of Lombardia Environmental Protection Agency website (www.arpalombardia.it/qaria).
He is the project manager of ARPA Activities in Research Projects on: Air Quality; Cost-Benefits analysis; relations among agriculture, breeding and air quality; biomass burning.
In the current position leads a team composed by 51 technicians.
