Zhang Xin, Ph.D. and Professor, is currently Chief Economist of the National Climate Change Strategy Research and International Cooperation Center. Mainly engaged in research on carbon trading market mechanism, carbon asset management, carbon emission MRV, etc., and participated in the construction of national carbon markets and pilot carbon markets. Formerly worked as team leader of the National Carbon Market Construction Promotion Working Group, member of the Beijing and Fujian Carbon Market Expert Committees, member of the Guangdong Province Carbon Inclusive Methodology Expert Committee, member of the Heilongjiang Province Carbon Sink Economic Development Expert Committee, and member of the 2022 Winter Olympics Sustainable Development Committee, etc. Currently speaking, Zhang has published more than 130 papers, more than 10 co-authored books and teaching materials, more than 20 authorized invention patents (as first and/or second inventors), and published more than 20 national, local and industry technical standards and guidelines. Zhang has won the titles of German Humboldt Scholar, the New Century Outstanding Talent by the Ministry of Education, the second and third prizes for outstanding scientific research achievements as awarded by the National Development and Reform Commission, and the second prize for excellent scientific research achievements as awarded by the National Energy Administration.
