Zhou Jian (Deputy Director of Institute for Low Carbon Economy Studies, Tsinghua University)
Zhou Jian, Associate Professor and Ph.D., Assistant Director of the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economics of Tsinghua University, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Low Carbon Economy of Tsinghua University, and Deputy Director of the Ecological Civilization Research Center of Tsinghua University. Main research fields: climate change economics, carbon market, low-carbon development. Zhou used to serve as a member of China’s climate change negotiation delegation, one of the overall designers of the Beijing carbon market, a member of the Asian Bank carbon market expert database, and the Chinese liaison of the China-Japan-Korea Carbon Pricing Mechanism Forum. Zhou also presided the Beijing pilot project of carbon emission trading, low-carbon Beijing pilot project and other related supporting research work, and is the main researcher of the national greenhouse gas direct reporting system, and the national carbon emissions trading market. As a member of the Sustainability Advisory and Recommendation Committee of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics and leader of the low-carbon working group, Zhou took part in the preparation of the “Beijing Winter Olympics Low-Carbon Management Plan”. Zhou is also a member of the Working Group of the Climate Change Special Project of the national “12th Five-Year” Plan for Science and Technology Support, presided over or participated in a number of national 973 plans, the national science and technology support plans, and the national CDM support project. Having won two provincial/ministerial awards.
